Breaking into Apple’s Biggest Podcast Charts FOR THE FIRST TIME
This is madness. And, proof to myself that I’m going in the right direction.
My little old podcast, Project Possible, has so far spent ALL of August in the UK Apple Podcast charts - ranking highest at 23rd, and lowest at 114 (out of an estimated 64,000 shows in my category, Personal Journals!).
To put that into perspective, incredible shows like Desert Island Discs, Great Company with Jamie Laing and Dig It with Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball occupy the top spots currently.
It’s stayed in the top 50 consistently - and do you see that little orange-yellow dot?
That’s little old independent me breaking into the Society and Culture charts for the first time EVER (blog continued below chart)!
Society and culture is the single biggest category in podcasting in the world, and is an umbrella category for Personal Journals.
To break into that chart is massive to me - it’s where podcast inspirations for me like The Louis Theroux Podcast, How to Fail with Elizabeth Day, Chris Williamson’s Modern Wisdom and so many other amazing shows live.
I’m obviously under no illusions: I’m a billion miles off them right now, but… where there’s a trickle, there’s a stream.
As with any creative endeavour one does by themselves, predominantly - especially an endeavour I’d love to be the thing I do forever - there can a certain (hopeful) loneliness to it.
So, as I close in on 100 episodes of the show that’s kept me sane in the aftermath of an awful family tragedy, having only brought it back full-time less than a year ago, these little things keep me motivated to stay consistent, keep the quality of the podcast as high as possible and stay focused.
To you - thank you to anybody and everybody that watches, listens, shares and supports me publicly, privately and even unbeknownst to me* - you’re the reason that little orange-yellow speck happened and I’m bloody CHUFFED.
